CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CLIENT OF THE WEEK: CHARLES
Charles is 73 years old, a retired critical care nurse from Wisconsin.
About a year ago, a medical workup showed his BNP levels were elevated—a major marker for heart failure and left ventricular strain. He looked at that data and said, Okay, I need to unload this heart. I need to lose weight. I need to preserve what I’ve got. And then he actually did something about it.
His Results? Oh, Man.
Charles dropped 9 pounds of body fat PER WEEK in his first two weeks. Twenty-three pounds lost total. He hit a weight he hasn’t seen since 1996. Let that sink in. 1996. That’s almost 30 years ago. Amazing!
But here’s what we love about Charles, and this is the stuff that really matters to us: he didn’t just show up and go through the motions. He learned. He understood the why behind everything. He nailed our macro balance (30% protein, 30% carbs) and used our app to track it all. He realized that doing it this way keeps you full and makes the process sustainable.
- Pure Fat Loss: 11.08 lbs (from 57.03 lbs → 45.95 lbs of body fat)
- Lean Muscle: Gained 3.88 lbs (from 124.87 lbs → 128.75 lbs lean body mass)
- Composition Shift: Body fat dropped from 31.35% → 26.3% (a 5.05 percentage point drop)
That’s the gold right there — he didn’t just lose weight, he lost pure fat and gained muscle. At 73. In just 2 weeks!
Charles dealt with real challenges that a lot of you can probably relate to:
- Food Sensitivities: He has gluten and salicylate allergies. Our chef worked with him on every single meal, accommodated his allergies, and worked around his strong dislike of salmon (and hey, not everybody’s a salmon person, that’s okay). Remember what we always say—if you don’t enjoy what you’re eating, you’re not going to stick with it. That’s just how the brain works.
- The Alcohol Truth Bomb: He experienced firsthand what we talk about all the time. Even occasional drinking completely stalled his weight loss. One drink can shut down your body’s ability to burn fat for up to 72 hours while your liver deals with those toxins. If you’re wondering why the scale isn’t moving after a weekend of drinks… well, there you go.
The Work In Progress Theorem in Action
Charles’ mantra is: “It’s better to die trying than to look back and wonder.” Come on. That’s it right there. He didn’t sit at home wondering what if. He got on a plane at 73 years old and did the damn thing. And his advice to you? Try it. Invest in yourself now, because as a retired critical care nurse, he knows it’ll save you a fortune in medical bills later.
Charles, you turned fear and limitations into fuel. Keep moving forward. You earned this one!
